Llyr - God of the Sea
Llyr is the God of the ocean and seas, thought to be similar in some ways to the Irish sea God Lir who is father to Manannan Mac Lir. Llyr as a personification of the ocean, is a deity of sailors and fisherfolk who appeal to him for good weather and beneficial winds. He is the reflective waters, the power that can turn turbulent waters to peaceful tranquillity and back again. This piece is made with ocean jasper, aquamarine, larimar and paua shell. It features Llyr with a stone of larimar at his brow. Ocean jasper connects us with the sacredness of saltwater, the shore and all sea creatures. It helps us to find healing in the ocean’s waves and the smell of the sea breeze. Aquamarine is a stone of the water element, of emotional peace and calm, and a cool head. Larimar is a stone of the ocean as divinity and the source of life on Earth. Paua shell reminds us of our own power and strength, that with each breath we have the ability to make waves of change.
