Efnisien a Nisien - Sons of Shadow and Light

Efnisien and Nisien were brothers who feature in the second branch of the Mabinogi. They stand in contrast as the good and bad half-brothers of Branwen, Bendigeidfran and Manawydan. They represent the light and shadow, the seen and unseen, the seemingly good and bad, the conscience and the ego: the two parts of the self that wrestle within us. Nisien was a peacemaker and diplomat, while Efnisien was suspicious and vengeful. Yet their opposing traits were not always clearly good or bad. In the second branch of the Mabinogi Efnisien both starts the war against Ireland, and is key to its ending. Their story invites us to explore the shadow self, the unconscious mind and the origins of our fears and faults, leading us to greater self-awareness. This piece is made with black obsidian, black and white jasper, and amazonite. It features two faces of Efnisien and Nisien and a triple spiral design. Black obsidian is a stone of self-mastery, balanced leadership, self-awareness and discipline. Black and white jasper is a stone of the light and shadow, the seen and unseen. It also helps us to make decisions with a clear head. Amazonite is a stone of emotional intelligence and self-awareness that brings heartfelt communication.
