Blodeuwedd

Blodeuwedd is the woman who was made out flowers and herbs of oak, broom and meadowsweet and magically brought to life by Gwydion to be the bride of Lleu Llaw Gyffes, the son of Aranrhod. Though made for Lleu, she chose her own path with another and for this, was transformed into an owl. “Blodeuwedd” means “flowerface” and is also the name for the Owl in Welsh. In part of her life she was of the flowers and light, and in the other part she was of the owls of the darkness. This piece is made with tree agate and rose quartz. It features the faces of Blodeuwedd as both woman and owl, and floral blooms and leaves. Tree agate is a stone of nature connection, natural magic and tree wisdom. It helps us to ground ourselves in nature and explore the uses of plants and herbs. Rose quartz is a stone of love, compassion and care, the true signs of good relationship, for Blodeuwedd’s story is a lesson that love must come with free will.
